Om Puri is an officer whose father was Amrish Puri- also in Police Force. Om had a disturbed childhood as his father was a wife beater & abuser and he helplessly watched his mother been beaten. When he grows up, he falls for Samita Patil, but she did not like the aggressiveness of the profession. To forget his failures & other professional/ political corruption, he used to get drunk heavily & generally abused people. At the end he kills the corrupt politician and surrenders.
Shool
A decent family man with a wife and a loving daughter who believed in performing his duties fearlessly. He has to pay heavily for his loyalty & dedication towards his profession. The local politician & goon go against him totally and he loses his daughter and wife…they both die – all this because he dared to fight against corruption. He hardly had any support from his fellow officers or constables! At the end he kills the politician.
Message–
Majority of the citizens are least bothered about their environment …seems that they somehow want to exist, somehow earn enough to eat, reproduce & die! It is amazing how citizens are so fearful of the wrong doer! It is also strange that in spite of so much knowledge, still people are continuing to vote for incompetent administrators out of fear? Boredom? Non-caring attitude? Ignorance? What is use of so much connectivity and ease of communication when people are still suffering from ignorance?
