Real life Ki and Ka is not so rosy!- A Savdhaan India Episode

Recently released film promoted the fact that a MBA topper male decides to sit at home and look after household chores and the wife works her ass out! Along  with the wife, the mother-in-law is also an active professional – busy with NGO and an aged boyfriend..or lover – whatever – at least she was having an affair with her contemporary and not some male – 15 to 20 years  younger to her (soon Bollywood will show and prove that it is very natural and a done thing for a 50 plus years old woman to have an affair with 20 years her junior…after all many females  are having such liaisons….and males have been having such relations since ages….why not women….so why not make it legal too – just the Bollywood stamp is required!)

Anyways, in the film Ki & ka, the husband occasionally asks the maid (kaam wali baai) as to why she is not cleaning the utensils properly….and sometimes he cooks also….he packs the tiffin of wife and mother-in-law etc. wow! So lovey-dovey…drool…!!

But in Saavdhan India episode, the true picture of such a couple was shown recently. In the episode, the lady had a son and a daughter. The lady was a teacher who had been abandoned by her wasteful husband – so she had single-handedly brought up her 2 kids. The daughter was wed off to a ‘loser’ kinda male – who used to get drunk, have affairs with women and come home late to beat his wife when questioned!

The son had got married to a career woman. In front of his mother and wife, he used to act all lovey-dovey and caring – along with the baai he used to enter the kitchen and pack the lunch boxes…but as soon as the mother and wife went out, the husband used to call over his equally good-for-nothing friend, booze and play video games.

Things were going on fine – wife and mother never thought that he was such a cheapster but the maids knew all about it and laughed at his drama! Problem started when his sister left her loser husband and decided to live with them. This the brother could not tolerate and he started creating trouble for his sister so that she leaves and goes elsewhere! Beans get spilled and the mother realizes that ‘like father, like son’ is so true a phrase after all! The son too turned out to be a cruel heartless and shameless fellow – just like his father – in spite of watching his mother struggle since his childhood!

So folks, this is what happens in real life – do not get enamoured by the chamak dhamak of tinsel town . Watch the film FAN by Shah Rukh Khan – where he asks his fans to be practical and down to earth!

Ki and Ka may be looking all kewl and nice and lovey-dovey – but unless the husband is physically handicapped or suffering from some disease…such situations should not be allowed to arise. A healthy male sitting at home can have many ulterior motives! I know of a true incident where the husband sat at home and invited call-girls to enjoy with while the wife was slogging the entire day at office! When she came to know about his activities, he threatened that he’ll put up her nude images on the internet for her colleagues & friends to see….she continued to serve him….I don’t know what she did ultimately!

In matriarchal societies things are different I guess – but honestly, nature has made women to be more dainty and soft, fragile – so she need not perform hardy works but care for the child and household. Males are made physically tougher – they can work on fields – plus they don’t carry a baby in their wombs – so they are free to work more.

Works that involves more of brain-work – it is okay for both husband and wife to work. Both of them can divide household chores between each other….but in India, this distribution of labour equally at home front is seldom seen! Mostly men come home and expect the wife to take care of the home front – warming food, laying table for dinner, looking into what the child ate etc. it all comes on the shoulders of the woman – so basically she is performing double duty – both office and home front – meaning more stressed, more tired & more irritable!! A stressed out wife and mother…is not such a good thing for the home…the home does not remain ‘Home sweet home’ anymore! Beware!
