He rejected Her…much to her surprise!
Mitali’s mother was very excited, they were expecting a visit from the groom to-be’s family. He was an IAS officer and the only son. Mitali was getting ready too. She was already thinking how she will show off her good-luck to her friends – especially her ex boyfriend. Matali had been dating her ex-boyfriend Akash for 3 years. He was the only son of a rich businessman and used to live alone in his huge apartment. Both his parents lived abroad so he was doing whatever he felt like doing. Mitali had met him at a friend’s party. As soon as she came to know of his riches, she almost fell at his feet, ready to lick it as well! Mitali had been quite a libidinous female and had been getting laid since the age of 14! But she was tired of dating poor and average boys of her locality – so meeting with Akash was a lottery for her!
Akash was also having trouble with the domestic helpers! He used to party late and go to sleep at 5 am – and the helpers used to ring his door bell at 6 am – much to his irritation! He observed Mitali was crazy for riches and a wasted lifestyle – as they showed in films – partying till late night, doing drugs, free alcohol and even free sex! Mitali was very happy with this lifestyle – unlike what her pauper parents had given her all her life. Although she was the only daughter, her parents were quite miserly – that’s what she felt because they did not let her buy vulgar clothes or smoke or drink – they thought it all to be dirty! And Mitali thought that she was damn unlucky to be born to such backdated parents.
She had started spending lot of time with Akash. She lied at home saying she had to make reports at the office and needed extra time so she would stay back at her friend’s residence. This continued till 3 years when suddenly Akash asked her to pack her bags and leave asap because his parents were visiting India. Mitali asked him if he would introduce her as his girlfriend but he did not respond.
Mitali called him several times but he stopped receiving her calls. She found out from a common friend that he was getting engaged to a filthy rich daughter of a businessman. She tried to enter his house but the gateman was already instructed that she should not be allowed to enter the premises. The gatekeeper knew her well and asked her to completely forget about him or else they will get her killed!
She tried going to Tantrick and even wasted couple of thousands to mesmerize him etc – but nothing worked. She had aborted his child twice and was shocked by his behavior! Weeks went by when suddenly a distant Aunt brought her the proposal of Vijay, an IAS officer. Mitali agreed to meet him because she knew she was aging and if she does not rope in some stable man, she will land up becoming a party pick-up girl – which she did not want to!
Vijay was asked to talk to Mitali in the balcony where no one would disturb them.
Mitali tried to be as modern as she could be – she had seen in films and known personally too – what excites males – so she tried all the tricks that, she thought, would surely impress any male!
Mitali: Do you have a girlfriend?
Vijay: (surprised with the question) If I had one, why would be sitting with you then?
Mitali : oh! There can be many reasons for that – maybe parents don’t approve of her so you are forced to see me….
Vijay: No – nothing of that sort, I don’t have any girlfriend.
Mitali: like right now you have no girlfriend or you broke of, things did not work out….
Vijay: Never had one – I was always in a boy’s school, then got in IPS training – never had the time to mingle with girls really!
Mitali went silent for a while – surprised to know that she was getting a virgin groom for herself!
Vijay (noticing the silence): You have had any boyfriend?
Mitali: Any…oh! I have had many!
Mitali thought that he will get very excited to listen to her sexcapades – afterall maximum film heros forget all nasty past and start loving the heroine with all his might!
Vijay was taken aback but he wanted to know more – so he pretended that he was not shocked after all!
Vijay: of course, a pretty girl like you – she will surely attract the attention of many males in her locality! So no one steady enough to get married to?
Mitali thought that honesty is the best policy after all – so she told him all about Akash.
Mitali: (after telling details about Akash)…. but unfortunately he was a mama’s boy – he got married where his mother fixed his marriage!
Vijay: So while you were spending so much of your time with him – did your parents not come to know about it?
Mitali: Oh! I lied to them – they are backdated and conservative – they do not understand that we are young and we need to be part of the society – we need to party and get wasted – otherwise what will we talk about at ripe old age…..we should definitely create good memories!
Vijay: Yeah! Sure – but since you were so close to him, and sex was a part of your relationship – it is quite risky for the lady – you ladies get pregnant and all….
Mitali (thinking that Vijay is a broadminded man after all): Yeah – I know – bane of our existence – I had to abort twice and just imagine, I had to go alone and he did not even once come with me when I went for the abortion!
Vijay: Gosh! Your parents know about the abortion?!
Mitali: Don’t be silly – of course not! I am telling you because I don’t want to hide my past from you – as my future….husband, you should know all about my past!
Vijay: Oh! Okay……that was very honest of you!
They continued to talk for a while then they joined their parents.
They left and Mitali’s mother asked her about whether the guy was impressed with her or not.
Mitali: If he is not impressed by me – then it is his bad luck mom – men are dying to just catch a glimpse of me – only a fool can reject me! I am modern and smart and beautiful too – where will he get such a package deal huh?
Vijay’s mother asked him on the way – while still in the car.
Vijay’s Mom: So, did you like her?
Vijay: I will tell you at home mom – not now. (He could not talk about the scandalous female and her scandals in front of the driver )
Once at home he started telling her story to them.
Vijay: She is basically a s**t mom! Goodness what a piece of crap – I was getting thoroughly bored while listening to her cheap life story! Really pity the fellow who eventually marries her!
Mom: Why? What did she say?
Vijay told his mom about her live-in relationship, her abortions, her lying to her parents – everything.
Vijay: So do you want some such daughter-in-law who lies, drinks, smokes, do drugs, has been aborted twice and God only knows how many more times……and by the way, such girls continue to have sex with random males – that is her nature mom! And I am a cop – I will be away for months together – the type she is – she will probably get her boyfriends here at home in my absence – will you be able to tolerate some such wh**e in your house?
Mom: Goodness! Of course not! We will just tell them that the horoscopes did not match and get rid of this cheap female asap!
Vijay: Do whatever you want mom! And next time please check the background first before asking me to take leave from my office – the entire day got wasted listening to a wh**e story!
His mother called up her Aunt and gave her an earful!
Aunt told everything to Mitali’s mother!
Mitali’s mom: Are you crazy – what have you told him?
Mitali: Who? What?
Mom: What the hell is he talking about? You have had abortions, you were living in – what non-sense have you told him?
Mitali (surprised that the dullard had spilled the beans but she had to save her skin): I don’t know what he is talking about – maybe he has a girlfriend already and he is making up nasty stories about me!
Mom (knowing very well that she was lying but could not help it): Next time whoever comes, don’t tell him about your past – PLEASE, I beg of you! Honesty has no value in today’s world – and your past is past – it is over! Your Aunt has come to know all your stupidities and now the entire clan will know your story! Are you stupid or what?! I gave you lots of freedom – knowing very well what you were upto – but because your dad is miserly and would not buy you cosmetics and those lacy lingerie, I lied to your dad about your whereabouts so that you could enjoy life – but here I see you are so completely dumb!
Mitali kept shut for the first time – she let her mother continue to bark for a change – she was surprised at her own understanding of men – how could a man reject her – that was what was playing on her mind! 6 months later, an aged businessman came to see Mitali. He was 14 years older to her, pot bellied but very rich. She played her game very cleverly this time. She behaved shy and coy and managed to impress him. They got married and lived lying-ly to each other! She gave birth to 2 children, older daughter, who was her husband’s child, and younger son, who was the son of the gym instructor! She continued to collect scandalous stories for her old age.
